The Northwest Florida Daily News is reporting that an investigation into complaints lodged against the two highest ranking officers in the Fort Walton Beach Police Department could be completed by the end of this week. Mark Bonfanti, the labor law attorney hired by the city to conduct the investigation, said he intends to turn over his report on the finding early next week. 12 complaints were filed by Fort Walton Beach Police Officer Don Hall against Police Chief Edward Ryan and Captain Tracy Hart, Ryan’s second in command, alleging gender and race discrimination, gross mismanagement, malfeasance, misfeasance, and gross neglect of duty. Chief Ryan resigned June 30th, Captain Hart remains on paid leave. Captain Bill Royal was appointed as acting police chief.
