MID-BAY BRIDGE CLOSED

The Florida Department of Transportation has closed the Mid-Bay Bridge over Choctawhatchee Bay for emergency repairs after a routine inspection revealed corrosion on post-tensioning tendons, a prestressed steel cable inside the bridge that reinforces the concrete. MOBILE TRAFFIC FATALITY

The Mobile Alabama Police Department says a woman from Molino in Escambia County was one of two people killed in a head-on fiery traffic crash on Interstate 10 in Mobile early yesterday morning. 24-year-old Kaytrielle Jones died about 1:30 a.m. on the I-10 Bayway. INSTITUTE FOR HUMAN AND MACHINE COGNITION GRANT

The Institute for Human and Machine Cognition in Pensacola has been  awarded a grant for a half-million dollars by the Toyota Mobility Foundation. The challenge was to develop life-changing technology for people with lower-limb paralysis.
