SATURDAY NIGH POWER OUTAGE

Over 21,000 Gulf Power customers lost power across Escambia County Saturday night, most in the Cantonment area where the power went out during the eight o’clock hour and was restored before going out again. Most had their power restored by 10 p.m. Gulf Power did not provide a reason for the outage.  MORE

COVID-19 CASES

The Florida Department of Health says Florida set a new one-day record with 15,300 new COVID-19 cases. It is the largest single-day increase in coronavirus cases in any one state since the beginning of the pandemic. BLUE ANGELS AIR SHOW CANCELLED

The 2020 Pensacola Beach Air Show has been cancelled. It was originally scheduled for July 8-11, but the Blue Angels told the Santa Rosa Island Authority they were cancelling their performance because of the rise in COVID-19 cases. PROTESTOR ARRESTED

The Pensacola Police Department says the Black Lives Matter protester who was carried across the Pensacola Bay Bridge on the hood of an SUV back on June the 7th, has been arrested. MILTON POLICE SHOOTING RULED JUSTIFIABLE

State Attorney Bill Eddins says a shooting by a Milton Police Department officer on March 2nd has been ruled justifiable. Brandon McCloud was shot by Sergeant Dwayne Smith behind the Santa Rosa County Federal Credit Union after McCloud robbed the credit union at gunpoint. FLORIDA MORATORIUM ON EVICTIONS EXTENDED

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has extended a moratorium on evictions that will help renters struggling to keep up with their payments. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says they will be educating boaters about safe boating practices over the Fourth of July holiday weekend as part of “Operation Dry Water.” That will include boating sober and enforcing Florida’s boating under the influence laws. CONFEDERATE MONUMENT VANDALIZED

Pensacola police say the Confederate Monument in downtown Pensacola was vandalized. Vandals spray-painted “Your Confederate Dead” on one side of the monument and threw a bucket of red paint on another side. JET SKI FATALITY IDENTIFIED

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has identified the woman who died after a collision of two jet skis Saturday night in Santa Rosa Sound. 21-year-old Melly Johannes, of Brandon, Mississippi, was pronounced dead at Baptist Hospital following the crash.
