PENSACOLA BEACH FISHING PIER DAMAGED

CRESTVIEW POLICE OFFICERS FIRED

The Crestview Police Department says two officers have been fired after an internal investigation. Officers Christina Dawson and Shawn Temple were placed on administrative leave in May after they held what was called a “secret meeting” on the Eglin Reservation in Walton County. Gulf Power crews continued to work through last night to restore power to the last hundred or so customers still without power with help from crews from Georgia Power. OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma announced Wednesday that it is making a 3.4 million dollar grant to Harm Reduction Therapeutics, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit, that’s developing a low-cost naloxone nasal spray to counter the effects of an opioid overdose. Escambia County Emergency Services reports a storm-related death from Tropical Storm Gordon when a child was killed by a large tree falling on a mobile home in the 4000 block of West Bobe Street in West Pensacola last night. Tropical Storm Gordon went ashore late last night close to the Alabama-Mississippi border bringing torrential rain, high winds and coastal flooding to the central Gulf Coast. CHILD CRUELTY ARREST

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says a Gulf Breeze woman is facing a child cruelty charge for giving a suicidal teenager a gun.
