MEDICAL EXAMINER FINANCES EXAMINED

OPIOID OVERDOSE DEATHS

Data from the National Vital Statistics System show that overdose deaths from synthetic opioids like fentanyl have now surpassed deaths involving prescription opioids. In 2016, there were 42,249 opioid-related overdose deaths. 19,413 involved synthetic opioids, 17,087 involved prescription opioids and 15,469 involved heroin. PENSACOLA WOMAN HIT BY TRAIN

The Pensacola Police Department says a woman was seriously injured   after being hit by a train near Bay Bluffs Park yesterday morning.
