WEEKEND SEVERE WEATHER

Severe weather moving through the area caused scattered power outages across northwest Florida. An estimated 10,000 customers were without power from Escambia to Bay Counties, with the most outages reported in Okaloosa County. ESCAPED FUGITIVE RECAPTURED

A 27-year-old man who escaped custody after being arrested and handcuffed Friday, has been recaptured. CHILD ABUSER DIES

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says a 37-year-old Pensacola man accused of torturing a toddler has died a week after hanging himself in his jail cell. Andrew Bennett Ross Celaius, was found hanging in his jail cell around 11 p.m. on May 1st, a few hours after being charged with abusing his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter.…MORE

PENSACOLA DEATH INVESTIGATION

Pensacola Police are conducting a homicide investigation after the body of 66-year-old James Royster, of Pensacola, was found yesterday morning at a home at 1035 East Lee Street. A suspect was being questioned, but his identify has not yet been released. Authorities also have not released information on how Royster died. The investigation is on-going.MORE

CANTONMENT TRAIN BLOCKING

Escambia County commissioner Steven Barry says there may be a  solution to trains blocking local roads for extended periods of time and cutting off a Cantonment neighborhood. The Florida Bar says they will continue their disciplinary investigation into a tweet sent by Congressman Matt Gaetz about President Donald Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen. The Pensacola Police Department says a man wanted for an attempted murder in April has been arrested.
